A Tool Bar is a small window or a series of selectable buttons in a graphic user interface (GUI), usually a floating palette, with a set of small icons that perform operations. These tools that give the user an easy way to set a mode of input, such as the drawing tools in a drawing program, select desktop, application or Web browser functions.
Tool Bars are typically displayed as either a horizontal row or a vertical column around the edges of the GUI where they are visible while the application is in use. Tool bars appear or disappear based on the form that is open.
