A Text Box looks like a small white rectangular box and is used to display text or obtain entry from user’s interaction, such as a place to enter or modify a single line of text thereby providing information to a computer program.

A common use is the login dialog box (as shown above).  Most text boxes are accompanied by a label that defines its purpose.  Such a label is usually positioned to the left or the top side of the text box.
