A Table is a two-dimensional collection of data vertical columns (which are identified by their column name) and horizontal rows.  Each row is identified by the values appearing in a particular set of column(s) which identify the record as unique.  A table has a specified number of columns, but can have any number of rows.  Multiple tables make up a database and consume the space required to hold the information of most business applications.
