BSOD is a acromyn that stands for Blue Screen of Death. This term is not an offical name but rather the name that users jokingly (or not so jokingly) use to refer to the infamous screen that appears when a fatal Windows operating system occurs. The screen turns blue, and the computer almost always freezes--you will absolutely know it when you see it.  After encountering a critical system error which can cause damage to the system, the system will shut down to prevent damage. The only way to recover is to reboot your computer.
