A User Interface (commonly called the UI) is is anything designed into a application with which a human being may interact and causing the application to respond - a human-machine interface. The most common UI elements are the screen, keyboard and mouse.  When graphics are included, then the interface is called a GUI (graphical user interface - pronounced "goo ee").
